Studio
Wet-Plate Tintypes & Ambrotypes
Kingston, WA
Now Scheduling for February 2026
A quiet, dedicated space for making.
Studio sessions are slow and intentional, designed for those who want to create a small series of tintype or ambrotype portraits in a focused, un-rushed environment.
Studio Session — $450
A session includes one of the following:
• Three 4 × 5” plates
• Two plates: one 5 x 7” and one 4 x 5”
• One 8 × 10” plate

These sessions allow for exploration, adjustment, and refinement; each plate is the result of this full engagement.
Plates may be made as tintypes (on aluminum) or ambrotypes (on glass, +$50 per plate).
Additional Plates
4 × 5” — $125
5 × 7” — $150
8 × 10” — $250
Ambrotypes +$50 per plate
You're welcome to add additional tintypes on the day. Ambrotypes require more preparation, so advance notice is needed to guarantee availability.

Couples Package
Three Tintypes or Ambrotypes — $525 / $675
• One 5 × 7” plate + two 4 × 5” plates
• Two individual portraits and one together
Getting Here
My Kingston studio is accessible by foot from downtown Seattle.
The weekday walk-on ferry departs from Seattle at 7:55am and 10:45am ($13),
and returns to Seattle at 2:30pm, 4:10pm, and 5:55pm ($2).
You can see the studio from the water as the ferry arrives.

House-Calls
Your home, shop, land, or work becomes the focus.
I’ll bring my camera, mobile darkroom, and chemistry, and we’ll create images shaped by your environment. Sessions can take place indoors, outdoors, or with a backdrop set up as we would in a studio.
House Call Sessions
• Two 4 × 5” plates — $400
• Two 5 × 7” plates — $575
Additional Plates
4 × 5” — $125
5 × 7” — $150
Base prices include travel and labor fees within Seattl; sessions outside Seattle are quoted individually.
How it works
• I’ll need an area to set up my darkroom tent and about an hour on either side of the session for setup and teardown.
• Plates are made one at a time, responsive to you, the day, and the light at hand.
• We’ll have time between takes for adjustments and refinements.
• If you have a custom plate set in mind, we can discuss a custom rate in advance to make sure your session fits your vision.

Pop-Ups
Experience tintypes in a lively, temporary setting.
These are short, on-location portrait sessions, often by appointment.
I bring my camera, mobile darkroom, and chemistry, and we create images on the spot.
Pop-up sessions typically include one varnished plate and a digital file; pricing varies by event.

If you have a shop or space that you would like to bring the wet-plate process to, let me know!
If you feel drawn to working together, but are unsure where to begin, reach out below.
I am always open to a phone call to eliminate a lengthy back-and-forth.
